Ouagadougou: The Technical Secretariat for High Labor Intensity Works (ST-THIMO) exchanged views on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Fada N'Gourma, with the brigadiers, on government social measures concerning the prospects of their grouping into cooperatives and their orientation towards promising professions, with a view to facilitating their socio-professional integration.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting with the brigadiers, led by the head of the finance and accounting department of ST-THIMO, Oscar Dabir, is part of the monitoring of activities undertaken since June 2026. Dabir emphasized that this year, ST-THIMO is receiving support from the National Bureau of Major Projects of Burkina Faso to structure the brigadiers into cooperatives consisting of 25 members each, equipping them for self-employment and job creation.

In collaboration with Burkina Suudu Bawde (BSB), several sectors tailored to local realities have been identified. These include the manufacture of liquid and solid soaps, the processing of soumbala, and the production of 'Koko-donda.' 'We directed them towards jobs where there is a real need,' explained Oscar Dabir, highlighting the potential of soumbala processing, which could be more valued compared to industrial bouillons.

Future cooperative members are required to make a financial contribution, which will be augmented by a grant from the National Bureau of Major Projects, establishing the start-up fund for their activities.

At the conclusion of the discussions, social measures officers expressed their support for the approach and indicated their readiness to engage in the practical phase of the project.
