Komondjari: A strong wind ripped the roofs off two classrooms at a CEG (General Education College) during lessons. On the evening of Monday, May 4, 2026, a violent wind accompanied by rain caused significant damage to the Famberla General Education College (CEG), located in the commune of N'dorola. Two classrooms had their roofs torn off while students were in the middle of class.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Abdou Tarnagda, a teacher at the Banma Nuara Centre (CBN), reported that the extremely violent wind hit the establishment at around 2 p.m. "The wind, accompanied by rain, began to shake the building violently. Shortly after, the roof of the CP2 room collapsed on the students while that of the Banma Nuara Centre was torn off," he explained.
The teacher indicated that he quickly opened the windows to facilitate the evacuation of the students, who then took refuge behind clumps of trees located not far from the establishment. When questioned about the events, the school's director, Honore Dala, stated that the affected building had been built in 2020 by the community to accommodate the school's students.
It housed a total of 119 students, including 71 in CP2 and 48 at the Banma Nuara Centre. "All students and teachers emerged unharmed from this incident," he reassured. This incident once again calls on the educational community to be more vigilant and cautious at this time of year, as the winter season begins.
