Banfora: The Governor of the Tannounyan region, Patrice Yeye, officially launched the civic and patriotic education program, known as patriotic immersion, at the Fadoua Gnambia Municipal High School in Banfora this Tuesday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this 2026 patriotic immersion program marks the first phase of the initiative targeting students in intermediate grades. The program will run for five weeks, conducted on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings, with a participation of 24,547 students across the Tannounyan region. This was confirmed by the Regional Director of Secondary Education and Vocational Training, Alidou Karim Kone.
In his address, Governor Yeye praised the students' participation and encouraged their commitment to the civic and patriotic education activity. He emphasized that the program aims to instill fundamental values such as patriotism, social cohesion, respect for elders, and other essential civic values.
Governor Yeye stated, "During this training, you will have the opportunity to learn more about your beautiful country, Burkina Faso, and the values that embody it, in order to actively participate in the progressive and popular revolution envisioned by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore."
He urged students to demonstrate diligence, attentiveness, and curiosity throughout the program, encouraging them to ask questions for better understanding. He also called on them to be disciplined and to adhere strictly to the instructors' guidelines.
The Governor concluded by wishing all participating students good luck and courage as they embark on this immersion program.
