Tannounyan: The Tannounyan regional special delegation carried out, on Thursday in Banfora, the official handover of food supplies to internally displaced persons, vulnerable people, and the fighting forces of the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this donation consists of 267 bags of local yellow maize of 50 kg, i.e., 13.35 tonnes, and 426 bags of white rice of 50 kg, representing 21.3 tonnes, for a total estimated cost of 17,265,000 FCFA excluding tax.
The symbolic handover was carried out by the governor, Patrice Y©y©, who is also the resident representative of the Tannounyan regional delegation. According to the regional representative, this act is in line with the appeal launched by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, urging people in both urban and rural areas to make solidarity a daily practice.
"This action we have just taken responds to this call for solidarity. As part of the reconquest of national territory, it was our duty to support our fighting forces engaged in operations, who are fighting day and night so that the population can go about their business peacefully," explained the President of the regional delegation. He specified that this gesture, while symbolic, will contribute substantially to improving the daily lives of soldiers engaged in securing the national territory.
The PDS (Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion) of the Tannounyan region also indicated that this action reflects a particular concern for vulnerable people and internally displaced persons (IDPs). "Through this donation, we wanted to make these food supplies available to the Regional Directorate in charge of Family and Solidarity in order to alleviate the suffering of these populations and respond to D¨m¨ Sira's appeal," he added.
Mr. Y©y© urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donations and called on all the sons and daughters of the region to embrace solidarity as their guiding principle. "When solidarity knocks on the door, the State moves forward with confidence. Let us make solidarity our way by reaching out to our security forces and vulnerable people with this type of donation," he exhorted.
The Provincial Director, Boukary Sosso, representing the Regional Director of Family and Solidarity, welcomed this commendable gesture. He expressed his gratitude to the Regional Special Delegation for this support, which will contribute to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people, encouraging the armed forces, and strengthening social cohesion in the Tannounyan region. This initiative illustrates, once again, the surge of community solidarity mobilized in the region to address humanitarian and security challenges.
