Tax Compliance and Civic Responsibility Central to Zabre Public Conference

Boulgou/zabre: As part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), the regional directorate in charge of human rights, in collaboration with the regional tax directorate, organized a public conference on tax civic responsibility on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in the meeting room of the Zabre town hall. Presiding over the meeting, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zabre commended the strong turnout of participants. He noted that this activity is part of the JEPPC program, launched on March 26 and scheduled to conclude on April 14, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, after the flag-raising ceremony that officially opened the event, this conference is the second major activity organized in the municipality. The president emphasized that tax compliance, although initially aimed at business owners, actually concerns all citizens. "Tax compliance is not simply an obligation. It is first and foremost a civic duty. Everyone, according to their business activity, is required to pay their taxes," he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the regional director in charge of human rights, the head of the human rights department, Eg¨de Magloire Koudougou, outlined the objectives of the activity. He recalled that the JEPPC, initiated nearly three years ago by the national authorities, aim to strengthen the values of patriotism and citizenship among the people of Burkina Faso. He explained that these days take place in two phases, in March and October, and mobilize all ministries through various activities across the entire national territory.

He mentioned the highlights of the current edition, including the raising of the colors and the message from the Head of State inviting Burkinabe to promote the consumption of local products and to rely on their own resources to build true independence. Several other activities are planned during these days, including school competitions for students in the third and fourth years of technical schools, conferences in schools to promote civic responsibility, and intergenerational meetings aimed at transmitting social values.

He also mentioned the organization of exchange days with prominent figures who have contributed to Burkina Faso's influence, with the goal of inspiring young people. During the conference, key stakeholders benefited from two presentations. The first, presented by the director of the Zabre Departmental Tax Center, Yobi Compaore, focused on the theme: "The role of trade organizations in promoting tax compliance." The second presentation, led by Serge Kobinde, human rights advisor, focused on the theme: "Let's produce Burkinab¨, let's consume Burkinab¨."

These presentations led to exchanges between the participants and representatives of the human rights, tax, and public treasury services. The Zabre conference thus provided a framework for exchanges around the issues of fiscal civic responsibility and citizen participation in national development.
