L©raba: The provincial directorate in charge of culture in L©raba organized a public conference in Sindou, marking the official launch of African Languages Week. The ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of L©raba Province, Y©onviel Som©, representing the Governor of the Tannounyan Region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference was held under the theme "Sustainable Water, Shared Voices: African Languages as a Safe Water and Sanitation Channel for the Africa We Want." It highlighted the role of African languages in raising awareness among populations about water and sanitation issues. The Tannounyan region, like others in the country, is commemorating African Languages Week alongside the international day of the mother tongue.
The speaker at the event explained that the theme aims to help the country's population understand the issues surrounding water management. Teachers, educational supervisors, and Heads of Basic Education Districts (CCEB) were invited to equip themselves with the theme to relay the speaker's message to students, who are the primary recipients.
Dr. Anselme Dari Dah, the regional director in charge of Primary Education in Tannounyan, expressed satisfaction with the conference content and the participation of stakeholders. Meanwhile, Y©onviel Som©, the Secretary General of the province of L©raba, encouraged actors on the ground to transmit the ideas discussed at the conference, focusing on integrated water resource management through the use of national languages to learners.
