Kourittenga: A television series project, developed by the production company "Sentinelle Production," was presented this Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Koupela, to local authorities of the Kourittenga province. The event was attended by the regional director of culture for Nakambe, administrative and traditional authorities of the Kourittenga province, and members of the film industry.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the television series project titled "Buud Maasom" will be produced in four seasons, each consisting of 26 episodes with a runtime of 26 minutes. The series will be filmed entirely in rural areas using national languages. The central theme of the project is the tension between preserving heritage and the pressure of modernity.
The project's communications officer, Boris Kabre, shared that professionals from various sectors were integrated to incorporate traditional music, sets, and costumes, ensuring an authentic cinematic work reflecting the land's realities. Mr. Kabre noted that at least ten well-known industry professionals will contribute their expertise to the series.
Guy Desire Yameogo, the director, showrunner, and artistic coordinator, emphasized the project's aim to give a voice and face to cultural roots. Mr. Yameogo explained that "Buud Maasom" will draw on local customs to present a universal story.
To ensure the project's success, the artistic coordinator sought the support of traditional and administrative authorities. His Majesty Naaba Yemde of Koupela expressed his delight, stating that the project allows local values to reach a global audience. He wished the project success, believing it embodies societal values.
