Tenkodogo:The prosecutor's office at the Tenkodogo High Court has ordered the incineration of prohibited goods valued at approximately 13 million CFA francs, in a bid to combat fraud and the trafficking of illicit goods. The operation included the destruction of 84 cartons of Yes brand cigarettes, 17 kilograms of cannabis, and pharmaceutical products, involving various criminal justice system actors under the leadership of the Public Prosecutor of Burkina Faso, Ido Bouma.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this action is aimed at discouraging smuggling activities and serves as a reminder of the legal consequences faced by those involved in the trade of prohibited products. The incineration reflects an important step in processing seizures conducted by competent authorities as part of an ongoing fight against illicit goods trafficking networks.
The operation highlighted the prosecutor's office's commitment to strengthening collaboration among services involved in the repression of fraud and trafficking offenses. During the event, Deputy Prosecutor Namoano issued a warning to those engaged in smuggling, urging them to cease activities harmful to the national economy and human health.
Namoano emphasized that smugglers must abandon illicit practices to avoid being hunted down, prosecuted, convicted, and having their goods seized and confiscated. He also praised the dedication of criminal justice system actors, especially the judicial police, for their daily efforts in detecting illicit circuits and bringing suspects to justice.
Through this initiative, the Tenkodogo High Court's prosecutor's office intends to maintain pressure on smuggling networks and remind individuals that illicit commercial activities expose them to legal sanctions.
