Tenkodogo: The Union of Traders and Related Businesses of Tenkodogo (UCAT) organized a collective breaking of the fast on Tuesday evening in Tenkodogo, bringing together administrative authorities, community leaders, and religious communities. This initiative aims to strengthen social cohesion and implore the return of peace to Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the banner of living together, coinciding with the Muslim fasting period and the Christian Lent. El Hadj Kabiro Sana, the president of UCAT, emphasized that this collective breaking of the fast is a moment of recognition and communion. It was seen as an opportunity to invite partners, traders, technical services, and authorities to come together in prayer for peace.
El Hadj Kabiro Sana also acknowledged the strong turnout of participants, which he believes demonstrates the commitment of local stakeholders to foster social cohesion. He noted that various communities were represented, including traders, service providers, administrative authorities, and the defense and security forces.
Representing the governor of the Nakambe region, Tassere Nacoulma highlighted the symbolic and social significance of the initiative. He explained that the event provided a friendly setting for workers to gather, share a meal, and express wishes for peace, while also helping to break down hierarchical barriers and strengthen bonds between managers and employees.
Mr. Nacoulma further pointed out that the meeting was inclusive, welcoming Muslims, Christians, and followers of traditional religions. He emphasized that all religions promote love for one's neighbor, which can be an important lever for the return of peace.
Testimonies from participants underscored the importance of such initiatives in a national context marked by security challenges. Many attendees expressed their satisfaction at sharing a moment of fellowship, transcending religious and professional affiliations.
By uniting authorities, economic actors, and populations around a shared table, UCAT reaffirms the importance of dialogue and solidarity as essential pillars for peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
