Addis ababa: The International African Textile Fair (SITA), set for July 2027 in Canada, has secured support from the African Union Commission. This backing was confirmed following a meeting in Addis Ababa between SITA’s Commissioner General, Abdoulaye Moss©, and the African Union President, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting resulted in an agreement to establish an institutional partnership aimed at supporting the fair, which focuses on the development of the African textile industry. The African Union Commission also expressed its commitment to having its president participate in the official opening ceremony of the Africa-Canada Textile Forum. This forum is anticipated to facilitate interactions between investors, financial institutions, and economic operators from Africa and North America.

SITA aims to leverage its partnership with the African Union to enhance the visibility of “Made in Africa” products, attract more investment in Africa’s textile sector, and promote trade between Africa and North America. The upcoming edition of the fair is expected to showcase African industrial potential and foster economic cooperation in textile transformation.
