Ouagadougou: The Ouaga No. 10 Basic Education District held a formal flag-raising ceremony Thursday morning at the Benogo School. Presided over by the District Head, Apollinaire Bagoro, the ceremony brought together teachers and students, who sang the traditional Moore song in unison.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized in response to a call from top officials of national education for a solemn raising of the national flag every first Thursday of the month. This initiative is aimed at fostering national pride and raising awareness among students on specific themes. Participants from the Early Childhood Development and Preschool Education Centre (CEEP), as well as primary school students, all dressed in traditional outfits, sang the ditanye in the Moore language, showcasing their pride in their national identity.
Apollinaire Bagoro, Head of the district, addressed the participants, urging all educational stakeholders in Ouaga No. 10 to unite in their efforts. "We must march in close ranks, have the same visions, pursue the same objectives, and support the first authorities to regain our dignity and rise to the occasion of the popular progressive revolution," declared the CCEB.
Following the flag-raising, a presentation on children's rights was delivered by Remi Seogo, Director of the CEEP in Benogo. "We took advantage of the presence of some parents of students to discuss the rights, the categories of rights to which children should benefit so that they are aware of them," he stated. Members of the School Council and representatives of post-primary and secondary schools in Benogo also attended the ceremony.
The CEB Ouaga 10 has plans to organize cultural and sporting events in all schools in the near future.
