Hounde: The High Commissioner of Tuy Province, Issiaka Segda, called on public officials on Monday, February 2, 2026, to embody an honest, disciplined administration serving the people. This occurred during the monthly flag-raising ceremony held at the Hounde Prefecture, in the presence of community leaders.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the new name "Ministry of Servants of the People", formerly the Ministry of Public Service and Social Protection, is not a simple institutional adjustment, but embodies a new vision of public service, consistent with the orientations of the progressive popular revolution undertaken by the country's authorities.
"By enshrining the term 'servants of the people,' the Burkinabe state strongly reminds us that the civil servant does not exercise power for himself, but assumes a mission in the exclusive service of the community," he stressed.
He thus called on public officials to be models of patriotism, integrity, discipline and dedication.
The High Commissioner stressed the need for a profound transformation of attitudes and professional practices, based on courtesy towards users, speed in processing files, rigor in applying the texts and zero tolerance towards behavior contrary to ethics, probity and the general interest.
'The state is strong when its agents are honest and respected,' Mr. Segda reminded everyone, while condemning bureaucratic delays, indifference, abuse of power, and all unethical practices. He indicated that the state's authority derives its legitimacy solely from the service it renders to the people.
Furthermore, Issiaka Segda invited the officials of the province of Tuy to fully embrace this new vision, to make it a guiding principle of their professional action and to contribute, through their exemplary conduct, to strengthening the confidence of the people towards the State and its institutions.
The prefect, Souleymane Dianda, president of the special delegation of the municipality of Hounde, was delighted to host the ceremony. He took the opportunity to present the department, its responsibilities, its potential, and the challenges it faces.
The Provincial Directorate of Homeland Construction has been designated to host the next national flag-raising ceremony, scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2026.
