Ouagadougou: The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) neutralized, from July 14 to Thursday, July 18, several terrorist fighters and destroyed significant quantities of their military equipment in certain localities of the country.This is a vigorous response by the Defense Forces to a terrorist attack perpetrated last Thursday against the Sandaré security post, in the Nioro Region of the Sahel.This feat was preceded by battles won by the FAMa against the enemies of peace following an offensive reconnaissance in the locality of Waramata, Yorosso Circle, which allowed the dismantling of a terrorist base.The information was given last Thursday by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (Dirpa) through a press release.'The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces informs national opinion that, on July 18, 2024 at around 3:30 a.m., the Sandaré security post vigorously repelled a terrorist attack perpetrated by unidentified armed individuals operating on around twenty motorcycles and in support of two vehicles,' specifies the document.According to Dirpa, this attack did not cause any human casualties, but caused damage to the gendarmerie brigade, which was set on fire with two FAMa vehicles.Thus, the reinforcement which left Diéma surprised the enemy along the way, who fled leaving bodies on the spot as well as motorcycles after intense clashes.The senior military hierarchy reassures that the situation is under control and that the search is continuing normally.Furthermore, continues the same security source, on July 14 at around 5:30 p.m., an offensive reconnaissance mission of the FAMa in the locality of Waramata, Cercle de Yorosso, dismantled a terrorist base and recovered materials on site including one walkie-talkie radio, a telephone, two pairs of military ranger shoes, two walkie-talkie radio chargers, 7.62 mm ammunition, medicine and food.In addition, on July 17, the military carried out an offensive reconnaissance in the locality of Daouna, 45 km west of Niono.
