Koosin/agriculture: Despite the late arrival of the rainy season, crops are currently in satisfactory condition in the Djibasso district, giving hope to farmers. This assessment was made on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the rainfall recorded so far has been characterized by its regularity and low intensity. This situation is considered favorable by some producers for the sandy soils, which dominate a large part of the municipality, as well as for the various crops grown in the area.
In the fields, the main crops planted are millet, maize, fonio, peanuts, beans, and groundnuts. Despite pockets of drought observed at the beginning of the campaign, the plants are currently showing development deemed satisfactory by several producers.
However, the cost of agricultural inputs remains a concern for farmers. A 50-kilogram bag of fertilizer is currently being traded between 27,000 and 30,000 CFA francs, a price that increases the costs for agricultural operations.
Despite these difficulties, producers are pleased with the current state of the crops and hope for continued steady rainfall until the end of the agricultural season.
