Nahouri: The town of Zecco, located approximately 50 kilometers from P´ in the Nahouri province, paid a heartfelt tribute this Saturday, April 11, 2026, to one of its sons, Tongo Bakieka. A resident of C´te d'Ivoire and president of the Nong-Taaba association of Nahouri natives in C´te d'Ivoire, he received a certificate of recognition from the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Zecco, Etienne Sanglan, for his numerous contributions to the development of Zecco.
According to Burkina Information Agency, performances by artists and traditional troupes, speeches, and the presentation of certificates were the highlights of this special day. For the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Zecco, Etienne Sanglan, Tongo Bakieka has been multiplying social works for six years, such as supporting initiatives aimed at stabilizing the area, improving the provision of care for local populations, and rehabilitating school infrastructure.
These social actions align with the vision of the country's highest authorities, who advocate civic engagement and national solidarity. Recognizing the efforts of a son, the authorities aim to inspire others to follow Mr. Bakieka's example to boost the development of the commune of Zecco.
Tongo Bakieka has placed his actions under the banner of national unity and the continuation of his commitment. He reiterated that the current context in Burkina Faso requires every citizen, whether residing within the country or in the diaspora, to become an agent of change. "The current situation in our beloved homeland calls upon us to be ambassadors of peace, development, and social cohesion," he affirmed, while reiterating his determination to continue his social work for the benefit of the people of Zecco.
The president of the Nong-Taaba association, "solidarity and mutual aid," Tongo Bakieka, organizes an annual day for the people of Nahouri in Ivory Coast, during which traditional attire, music, and local food are showcased. His dynamism and commitment in Ivory Coast have earned him several awards for best diaspora association in Ivory Coast.
