Tougan:In a recent operation from October 1 to 3, 2026, the National Police in Tougan checked 96 road users as part of the enforcement phase of the mandatory helmet law.
According to Burkina Information Agency, of those checked, 89 were fined on the spot, three motorcycles were impounded, and four were returned. The operation was conducted by elements of the Tougan Central Police Station and the Republican Security Company (CRS).
Tougan's central police commissioner, Marius Korgo, stated that the crackdown follows a period dedicated to raising awareness about helmet use. He remarked, "At first, we took a long time to raise awareness. Unfortunately, we are finding that some people are not respecting this protective measure."
Commissioner Korgo emphasized the collective responsibility of road safety, urging road users to ensure the systematic wearing of helmets. He highlighted the importance of individual protection for public safety and stressed the need for responsible behavior to reduce traffic accidents.
He reiterated the significance of the helmet mandate as a preventive measure against serious injuries in potential accidents.
