Barga:Teachers and school principals in the Barga basic education district have commenced a training program focused on the integration of national languages into first-year preparatory courses. The initiative aims to enhance the teaching of languages such as Moor, which is seen as crucial for improving educational outcomes.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of the Barga basic education district, Daouda Sigu, commended the country's authorities for their initiative to promote national languages from the primary school level. This effort is considered a significant step in embedding national values in students.
The CCEB highlighted the benefits of teaching in national languages, stating that it facilitates easier and more economical instruction in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Students reportedly assimilate information more quickly, which could potentially reduce the duration of primary schooling from six years to five.
Daouda Sigu encouraged participants to engage deeply in the training sessions to ensure effective application in their classrooms. Teacher Moumini Slenga from Dinguiri 'A' school expressed optimism that the training would equip him to teach his students effectively in the Moor language, contributing to the "endogenization of education" in Burkina Faso.
