Hound©: The Tuy Provincial Committee for Epidemic Management (CPGE) held its second ordinary session of 2025 on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, under the chairmanship of High Commissioner Issiaka Segda. During this session, the management team of the Hound© health district presented an epidemiological surveillance report detailing the health landscape for the latter half of 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, several diseases were monitored during this period, including malaria, dengue fever, diarrhea, acute flaccid paralysis, measles, meningitis, febrile jaundice, and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI). Notably, the report highlighted a downward trend in most of these diseases compared to the same period in 2024.
The district's chief medical officer, Dr. Youssouf Ou©draogo, revealed that malaria cases fell by approximately 37%, with child mortality under five years reducing by nearly 57%. There was also a significant decline in maternal deaths. Dr. Ou©draogo attributed these improvements to enhanced capacity-building initiatives for healthcare stakeholders, ongoing training, and comprehensive audits conducted by central and regional authorities in the first half of 2025.
The reduction in dengue cases was specifically linked to intensified efforts in destroying mosquito larval breeding sites and implementing spatial spraying techniques. Dr. Ou©draogo emphasized the crucial role of administrative, customary, and religious authorities in these health advancements and sought their continued support in health initiatives.
High Commissioner Issiaka Segda reiterated the CPGE's mandate to coordinate disease prevention and manage public health events at the provincial level. The session received financial backing from the Burkinabe Red Cross, which also presented its initiatives aimed at bolstering the health system within the Hound© health district.
