Ouagadougou: The Tega-wend© A team won the 6th edition of the Assemblies of God (AD) Churches Fraternity Cup on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Hound©, defeating Tega-wend© B on penalties with a score of 1 to 0. The finalists delivered a suspenseful match in front of a large crowd gathered at the Tega-wend© Church grounds in Hound©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, after a hard-fought match, Tega-wend© A emerged victorious in a penalty shootout, taking home the trophy, two balls, and a cash prize. Tega-wend© B, finishing second, received one ball and a cash prize. The teams from Elohim Church and New Life Church, ranked third and fourth respectively, each received a ball and an envelope.
The tournament, which began on March 1, 2026, brought together ten teams from the Assemblies of God churches of Hound©. A significant innovation of this edition was the integration of players from other religious denominations into the participating teams.
Mamadou Moyenga, president of the Hound© sub-regional branch of the Assemblies of God Youth (JAD) and chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his delight at the smooth running of the competition. He thanked God for the success of this 6th edition and emphasized the spirit of brotherhood that prevailed throughout the tournament. He noted that this initiative aims to demonstrate that Christian youth can be dynamic, responsible, and engaged in healthy activities that promote unity and social cohesion. Moyenga encouraged young people to continue promoting the values of peace, love, and solidarity within churches, families, and communities.
The sponsor of the edition, Pastor Timoth©e Ou©draogo, who is also deputy treasurer of the Regional Council of the Assemblies of God of Hound©, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the tournament and praised the commitment of the sub-regional youth. Sylvain Kiendr©b©ogo, president of the JAD regional branch in Hound©, congratulated the youth for taking up the challenge of this tournament, which has been held for six years.
Daouda Teri, representing the president of the special delegation of Hound©, congratulated the initiators of the tournament. He highlighted that this competition provides a framework for bringing communities together and mixing them, contributing to strengthening social cohesion.
The final match was attended by the High Commissioner of the Tuy province. Certificates of recognition were presented to several individuals for their support of youth. In a gala match, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) beat the sub-regional youth team of Hound© by 2 goals to 0.
