Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the province of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, presided over the opening of the 48 hours of information and orientation days following the school exam for new high school graduates of the 2026 session in Hounde. The ceremony took place at the private evangelical high school La Lumi¨re in Hounde, attended by administrative and educational authorities, representatives of universities in Burkina Faso, and new high school graduates from the province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training of Tuy, Seydou Traore, stated that these days are designed to help new high school graduates better orient themselves. He mentioned that the information provided will enable them to choose their field of study wisely and encouraged participants to be diligent to maximize the benefits of the training.
High Commissioner Issiaka Segda commended the initiative by the provincial directorate of secondary education, considering it relevant. He emphasized that obtaining the baccalaureate marks the beginning of a new journey that requires making informed choices for the future. He highlighted the mismatch between chosen courses and actual abilities, alongside a lack of reliable career information, as major causes of dropouts in higher education.
He urged the new high school graduates to take full advantage of these days, stating that "good guidance today is the guarantee of a successful career and harmonious socio-professional integration tomorrow." The two-day event, under the theme "Better information for successful orientation," will feature presentations by the Specific Support Service of the provincial directorate of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training of Tuy.
The discussions will cover study programs, the Campus Faso platform, financing of higher education (scholarships, FONER, and university services), as well as entrepreneurship and self-employment. The event is sponsored by the promoter of the Wanmi high school in Hounde, Antoine B. Thiao.
