Tuy: The populations of Pè make sacrifices for peace and magnify the local culture in Bonsè

The day of customs and traditions was celebrated on Wednesday May 15, 2024 in the village of Bonsè, in the commune of Koumbia, province of Tuy. On occasion, the populations of the five villages (Kamba, Lopohin, Pohin, Man and Bonsè) which formerly formed the village of Pè met to make sacrifices and magnify the local culture in Bonsè.

The village of Bonsè in the commune of Koumbia, province of Tuy was the convergence point of the populations of Kamba, Lopohin, Pohin, Man and Bonsè on Wednesday May 15, 2024.

Indeed, these populations who formerly formed a single village (Pè or Kamba) whose founder is Kapoué Biètamou de Bonsè, responded to the call of the guarantors of habits and customs, on the occasion of the celebration of the day of Customs and traditions.

The official ceremony took place in the village’s public square in the presence of administrative, religious and customary authorities, heads of services and people from the five villages under the watchful eye of the Volunteers for the Defense of the F
atherland (VDP).

On the occasion, local culture, particularly Bwa culture, was celebrated through performances by artists, masks and traditional dance troupes.

The artist Wetien Dembélé, the Lopohin fiber masks, the Pê-Kamba leaf masks, the traditional women’s dance, etc. kept the audience in suspense.

The opportunity was also used to explain to the public the importance of masks in Bwa society.

The land chief of Bonsè, Gnado Kambi thanked the Transition authorities for having established this day.

He praised the population for their resilience and cohesion despite the difficult security context in the village.

He indicated that the manes of the ancestors have reassured that the enemy will not be able to chase us from our lands.

However, Mr. Kambi invited all communities to cultivate understanding and unity in order to overcome the challenges that will arise.

For his part, the president of the Village Development Committee (CVD) of Bonsè, Sihi Bouaho expressed his gratitude to all these people who, ac
cording to him, made the trip to Bonsè, at a time when some are reserving themselves for fear of insecurity.

Taking advantage of the presence of the authority, he listed a few grievances which boiled down to the electrification of the high school, the renovation of the Bonsè and Pohin schools, the standardization of the Man and Pè ‘B’ schools, the improvement of equipment hydraulics, the restoration of destroyed telephone antennas, etc.

The 1st vice-president of the special municipal delegation of Koumbia, Justin Dofinita Tani, who chaired the ceremony was delighted to have been associated with this activity.

In his opinion, this day will allow the youngest to learn several lessons in habits and customs.

Considering the mobilization of the populations and the messages of peace conveyed during the ceremony, Mr. Tani believes that this day will strengthen social cohesion in the village.

In reaction to the concerns of the populations, the municipal authority will say that many of them are already taken into
account in the Municipal Development Plan (PCD) but that implementation is experiencing difficulties because of the security situation.

‘If, however, things return to order, with the prayers of our notables, I believe that something will be done because all this falls within the framework of development,’ he explained.

Earlier in the morning, the customary people made sacrifices to ask the ancestral spirits for health, peace, a good agricultural campaign and support for the Transitional authorities in carrying out their missions.
