UNFPA and ROJALNU Mondial Discuss Youth Engagement at UN Assembly

New York:On the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Diene Keita, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), met with a delegation from the Network of United Nations Youth Leaders Organizations (ROJALNU Global), led by its Global President, Abraham Zida Bila.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held at the UNFPA headquarters, focused on discussions about the role of youth in peace, security, sustainable development, inclusive governance, and social cohesion. Diene Keita expressed her encouragement to young people globally through ROJALNU World, highlighting the necessity of involving youth in peace and development initiatives.

She emphasized the need to support youth-driven dynamics and called for intensified efforts to find sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by populations, specifically in the Sahel region, in collaboration with relevant governments. The discussions also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between international institutions, youth organizations, governments, and other actors committed to human development and stability.

Abraham Zida Bila, speaking for ROJALNU Mondial, expressed gratitude to Diene Keita for her support and commitment to enhancing youth participation in decision-making at various levels. He stressed the importance of promoting youth empowerment and civic engagement in alignment with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda.

Highlighting initiatives in Burkina Faso, he praised the support given by Comrade Captain Ibrahim Traor©, President of Faso, to youth, which he sees as a significant opportunity for young people who will be gathering in Ouagadougou for the World Youth Symposium.

Bila reaffirmed the commitment to making the forthcoming World Youth Symposium a platform for action on global youth issues, ensuring that its agenda aligns with the priorities of youth and international development goals.
