Women Contribute 5.3 Tons of Cement to Faso Mªbo Ahead of International Women’s Day

Tenkodogo: Women set the tone for March 8th with a donation of 5.3 tons of cement to Faso Mªbo. Two days before International Women's Day, the governor of the Nakamb e region, Yiy e Abraham Somdo, received a donation of 5.3 tons of cement on Friday at the Faso Mªbo agency in Tenkodogo. The donation was made by women from the civilian, defense, and security forces (FDS) and paramilitary groups in the Boulgou and Koulp elogo provinces. The regional governor praised the contribution, which he said reflected the women's commitment to participating in the development of the city and the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional coordinator of women in Nakamb e, Abibata K er e, indicated that this gesture reflects the commitment of women to contribute to the building of Burkina Faso. 'The women of Burkina Faso cannot remain idle without participating in nation-building. That is why we have mobilized this donation to support development initiatives,' she declared.

Ms. K er e stated that this action is part of a series of activities organized in the region as part of the March 8th commemoration. She specifically mentioned the breast cancer screening sessions organized on March 5 and 6 in Tenkodogo, a panel planned for the day before the commemoration, and commemorative activities scheduled for the official day in Zabr e.

The coordinator also expressed her gratitude to the administrative authorities and technical services for their support in mobilizing women's associations and groups. Present at the reception ceremony, the governor of the Nakamb e region, Yiy e Abraham Somdo, praised the women's initiative which, according to him, marks an evolution in the way of celebrating International Women's Day.

"We are going beyond the festive aspect of the celebrations. The women have chosen to make a contribution, however modest, but meaningful, to the development of the city of Tenkodogo and, beyond that, of the nation," he stated. According to the governor, this initiative demonstrates the commitment of women to the development of Burkina Faso and their willingness to contribute to the future of future generations.

He also invited the people of Tenkodogo to mobilize more around the Faso Mªbo initiative, while noting some difficulties observed on the ground, particularly in the supply of aggregates. The coordinator of the Faso Mªbo agency, Captain Abdoul Fatah Sawadogo, thanked the donors and called on the population to follow suit with this initiative. According to him, Faso Mªbo aims to mobilize all Burkinab¨ around work and civic contribution.

Following the ceremony, Governor Yiy e Abraham Somdo visited the December 11th City, where he toured a paved road construction site. This visit allowed him to observe the progress of the work and to encourage those involved in the implementation of the Faso Mªbo initiative in the city of Tenkodogo. Through this contribution from women and the involvement of regional authorities, the commemoration of March 8 in Nakamb e emphasizes concrete actions in favor of local development.
