Women of Nayala Engage in Cleanliness Drive and Peace Promotion on International Women’s Day

Nayala: In commemoration of International Women's Day, women from the province of Nayala gathered in Toma to partake in a sanitation initiative organized by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune, Zakaria Sawadogo.According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aimed to inspire women to contribute to the city's cleanliness and to move away from practices that hinder development, specifically "djandjoba." The participants began their day by cleaning several public areas, including the town hall, market, Women's House, Social Action service, and the High Commission. This effort was not only to provide a cleaner environment but also to mark the beginning of the March 8 activities in the province.In the evening, the women attended a conference at the Women's House, which was attended by the High Commissioner of Nayala province, Honoré Frédéric Paré. The provincial director of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Moussa Galbane, delivered a presentation on the theme: "Buil ding lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contribution can women and girls make to promoting living together?" He emphasized the essential role of women and girls in fostering social cohesion and peace within communities, despite the challenging security and socio-economic conditions.Additionally, the provincial director of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries of Nayala, Aristide Zonou, introduced the technique of soilless cultivation. This method provides households, especially women, the opportunity to grow vegetables at home using minimal space and water. The awareness day served as an opportunity for participants to enhance their understanding of peace, social cohesion, and agricultural practices beneficial for household welfare.
