Ouagadougou: The President of the special delegation of the Yaadga region, Thomas Yampa, chaired a round table with the media and the technical and financial partners (TFPs) of the region in order to mobilize resources for the implementation of the Regional Development Plan (PRD) and the Local Economic Development and Territorial Coherence Strategy (SDELCoT), AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Yaadga region adopted the Regional Development Plan (PRD) in 2025 as a strategic development tool aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable growth. However, regional development authorities have reported that 64% of the budget remains to be mobilized.
By initiating this round table, the Regional Council presented the structuring projects of the PRD and the SDELCoT, informed partners about financing opportunities, and encouraged the commitment of TFPs, the private sector, and other actors. "The region has the ambition for development, but it cannot do it alone. It does it with partners. The goal of this round table is to channel all commitments and opportunities to achieve this," said the President of the special delegation.
The Secretary General of the Regional Council, Landrine Zoundi, presented a report focusing on the major development challenges facing the Yaadga region, highlighting insecurity and the four priority areas of the 2029 vision. A direct exchange between participants and Regional Council officials resulted in several commitments. All stakeholders were urged to align with the guidelines of the Regional Development Plan (PRD) and the Local Development and Planning Scheme (SDELCoT), to transfer the 2027-2029 programming to the Regional Council, to submit progress reports to the Regional Council, to hold joint programming meetings, and to proceed with the signing of protocols.
Recommendations were made during the discussions, including the organization of training for NGOs and development associations for the implementation of the two projects. "This is a very good initiative by the Regional Council, which was able to mobilize NGOs, associations, foundations, and media professionals in one morning. We invite all stakeholders to commit themselves wholeheartedly to the development of the region. This is a source of satisfaction for us because it is a first for the region," said Julien Oudraogo, head of Help in Yaadga.
At the end of the proceedings, the Chairman of the special delegation congratulated all participants for their commitment and invited them to implement the recommendations.
