Yako’s Citizen Watch Group Hosts Community Iftar to Promote Unity

Yako: The National Coordination for Citizen Vigilance (CNAVC) of Passore organized a collective breaking of the fast on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Yako. This activity aimed to strengthen fraternal bonds and perpetuate social cohesion among religious communities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw the gathering of various religious communities and administrative, military, and paramilitary personnel at the CNAVC roundabout in Yako for the collective iftar.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of religious and traditional communities, local populations, and administrative and municipal authorities. The breaking of the fast featured a communal meal, local juices, and other foods for the iftar meal. The CNAVC also donated food supplies to eight families of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) who had fallen in the line of duty, consisting of 16 bags of rice, 8 boxes of macaroni, and 8 five-liter containers of oil.

The Secretary General of the province, Saidou Ouedraogo, representing the High Commissioner of the province of Passore, and heads of provincial services, praised the initiative for its role in strengthening social cohesion. Marcel Sawadogo, the special envoy to the Yatenga regional presidency, highlighted the close ties between the civic watch group and the people of Passore province.

Aboubacar Ouedraogo, head of the CNAVC and focal point for presidential initiatives in Passore, emphasized the goal of uniting different religious denominations and the residents of Yako to preserve social cohesion. The representative of His Majesty the Dima of Yako, the Tensoba Naaba, commended the initiative and urged the youth of Passore to continue their civic vigilance and support the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) for the development of Burkina Faso.
