Yargatenga: The High Commissioner of the province of Koulp©logo, Sadou Ou©draogo, attended the closing ceremony of activities aimed at promoting social cohesion and bringing communities closer together in Yargatenga. The event, organized by young leaders in collaboration with the Special Communal Delegation and supported by the Tin-Tua association, was held on the grounds of Cinkanc©. It was attended by traditional chiefs, civil society representatives from Koulp©logo, host communities, internally displaced persons, representatives of the Tin-Tua association, and the Defense and Security Forces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner praised the commitment of civil society, customary authorities, the organizers, and both host and displaced populations for their engagement in the initiative. He highlighted that Koulp©logo is significantly affected by terrorist attacks in the Nakamb© region, leading to massive displacements towards safer areas. This situation has severely impacted local social, demographic, and economic life, resulting in increased land pressure and vulnerability of the populations.
Faced with these challenges, Mr. Ou©draogo urged the people of Yargatenga to embrace attitudes promoting harmonious coexistence, grounded in ancestral values of tolerance, solidarity, and social cohesion. He expressed gratitude to the organizers and the Tin-Tua association for their ongoing commitment to peace.
Yahaya Diessongo, president of the young leaders of Yargatenga, thanked the authorities, community leaders, and the local population for their mobilization. He stressed that, amidst insecurity and mass displacement, the youth have chosen dialogue over division, focusing their efforts on social cohesion.
Yemboini Ive Ouoba, Executive Director of the Tin-Tua association, expressed satisfaction with the authorities' support and community mobilization, reaffirming the association's commitment to aiding young leaders and local authorities in promoting communal living.
Community representatives echoed gratitude to the authorities and partners, delivering messages of peace and a pledge to unite for social cohesion. The ceremony concluded with scenes of joking kinship, a traditional dance fashion show, visits to stands, and a community meal symbolizing unity.
Activities promoting social cohesion began on February 5, 2026, at the Yargatenga prefecture, initiated by a caravan led by Mr. Sarambe Mahamadou, President of the Special Delegation of the municipality of Yargatenga, amidst strong public participation.
