Ouagadougou: The Youth Alliance for Peace and Development in Burkina Faso donated school supplies on Thursday to the children of Defense and Security Forces and Volunteers for Homeland Defense who fell in the line of duty. A total of 450 100-page notebooks, 150 200-page notebooks, 150 slates, 600 ballpoint pens, as well as erasers, rulers, pencils, and water bottles were distributed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aims to support the children of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) who work on the front lines. These school kits are intended for the 2026-2027 school year and are part of a broader effort by the Alliance of Youth for Peace and Development in Burkina Faso (AJPD-BF) in partnership with the Brigade of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (BVDP).

The distribution included 450 100-page notebooks, 150 200-page notebooks, 150 slates, 600 ballpoint pens, 150 erasers, 150 20cm rulers, 150 pencils, and 45 water bottles. This citizen initiative is designed to ensure school access for the wards of the nation, provide financial relief to widows and guardians, and express the nation's gratitude for the sacrifice of their parents.

Percey Khaled Gnassounou, secretary general of the alliance, emphasized that the supplies are a message of hope and recognition to the children of those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. 'Today we are not simply handing out school kits to these children. We want to tell them that they are not alone. The sacrifice of their parents is not forgotten,' said Comrade Gnassounou.

He further stated, 'For these children, school remains a path towards dignity, success, and the building of a better Burkina Faso.' The Alliance of Youth for Peace and Development in Burkina Faso also called on sister associations to join their efforts in guaranteeing quality education for the children of the FDS and VDP who fell on the front lines.
