Youth Encouraged to Preserve Joking Relationships for Peace

Kaya:Young people were encouraged to embrace and perpetuate the values of joking relationships, particularly dialogue, brotherhood, and social cohesion, during the second edition of the Rakiir© Kaya-Manga and Allies Festival.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, held from September 25 to 27, 2026, brings together delegations from Manga, Sapon©, Ziniar©, Pissila, Kaya, and surrounding localities under the theme "Joking kinship, a remedy for community conflicts and social divisions between communities."

Bernadette Adenyo/Serm©, acting governor of the Kouls© region, presided over the official ceremony. Representing the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, she praised the promoters for transforming historical disputes into opportunities for rapprochement, dialogue, and fraternity between communities.

She urged the youth to be ambassadors of this heritage, emphasizing the importance of making the festival a space for reflection, education, and collective action. 'You are the heirs to this heritage, but above all, you must be its ambassadors. Embrace the values of Rakiir©,' she told the young people.

Naaba Yabga, chairman of the organizing committee and Tansoab-n-kiema of Sandbondtenga, highlighted the vision of Naaba Koom of Sandbondtenga and Kiba II of Manga in making joking kinship a reconciliation tool. He noted that this dynamic extends beyond the communities directly involved.

The festival's program includes courtesy visits, a conference, a football gala, a shopping street, a community village, cultural nights, and visits to tourist sites. The sponsors emphasized the need to honor, value, and pass on this tradition to younger generations, stating that when tradition becomes a bridge between communities, it deserves such recognition.

Through this second edition, the organizers aim to reduce misunderstandings, prevent community conflicts, and strengthen fraternity between peoples.
