Zabre II Basic Education District Kicks Off Sports and Cultural Activities

Zabre: The Zabre II Basic Education District (CEB) officially launched its sports and cultural activities for the Primary School Sports Organization (OSEP) at the Youga village grounds.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was spearheaded by Inspector Arrouna Zanne, head of the Zabre II Basic Education District (CCEB). It was attended by Jacques Gouba, a representative of the president of the special delegation of the Zabre commune, along with educational supervisors, teachers, students, traditional and religious authorities from Youga, and representatives from the Youga gold mine. The inter-school competitions are designed to enhance student cohesion, promote excellence, build self-confidence, and instill values such as respect, solidarity, and peace within the school community.

Naaba Bongo, the canton chief of Youga, expressed his joy over hosting the launch of these activities, marking it as a first for his canton. "This is the first time that education stakeholders have come to launch such activities here, and we are very pleased. May God and the ancestors bless the event," he stated.

The representative of the president of the special delegation highlighted the opening ceremony as a platform for exchange, sharing, and joy among students from various schools within the CEB. He underscored the importance education stakeholders place on promoting a well-rounded education where sports and culture complement academic pursuits.

The event featured a symbolic kick-off jointly conducted by the representative of the PDS (Senegalese Democratic Party), the canton chief of Youga, and the event sponsors, Alima Yigo/Sangou and Rabiatou Kafando. The inaugural match saw the Youga Educational Support Zone (ZEP) triumph over Youngou with a score of 2-0.

Planned activities include a range of sports such as football, handball, and track and field events, emphasizing teamwork, fair play, and personal achievement. Culturally and intellectually, competitions in dictation, expressive reading, drawing, poetry recitals, and artistic performances are set to showcase the students' talents and creativity.

OSEP, a program in Burkina Faso, focuses on the holistic development of children through sports, contributing to the balanced growth of both body and mind while organizing school competitions.
