Ouagadougou: The PDS calls on the population to maintain mobilization beyond the vector control days in Zambo. Administrative authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), health workers, and the people of the commune of Zambo mobilized on Saturday as part of the second National Days of Vector Control. The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Zambo, Tassr Badini, called on the people to maintain the mobilization after these days.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity, carried out simultaneously in all villages of the commune, consisted of identifying and destroying the main larval breeding sites in order to contribute to the reduction of malaria. On the ground, the various stakeholders, accompanied by health workers, surveyed the properties and their surroundings in search of areas likely to promote mosquito breeding. The main larval breeding sites identified were then destroyed and cleaned up.

This mobilization made it possible to directly involve the population in the fight against malaria, through the elimination of stagnant water and abandoned containers that can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. According to the head of the Zambo primary health center, Ben Idriss Sanou, the malaria rate remains high and concerning in the health district. He believes that destroying mosquito breeding sites is an important step in preventing the disease.

"The malaria rate is high in our health zone. Destroying mosquito breeding sites will help to significantly reduce mosquito proliferation and, consequently, lower the malaria rate," he said. For Tassr Badini, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zambo, this operation must above all raise awareness among the population. He called on residents to maintain their mobilization beyond the national days of action.

He urged the population to maintain this momentum until the systematic elimination of mosquito breeding sites in all villages of the municipality. He emphasized that the fight against malaria cannot be the sole responsibility of health workers. The mobilization observed in the various villages of Zambo reflects the commitment of local stakeholders to making the cleanup of living environments and the destruction of mosquito breeding sites regular activities. This approach should help reduce conditions favorable to mosquito proliferation and strengthen malaria prevention in the municipality.
