Ziniar©: The High Court incinerates contraband cigarettes, narcotics and counterfeit money in Laongo. The Ziniar© High Court (TGI) incinerated a large quantity of illicit goods on Friday, June 19, 2026. The ceremony took place in the village of Laongo, on the southern outskirts of the city of Ziniar©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, five thousand one hundred and sixty-one (5,161) cartons of contraband cigarettes of various brands, estimated at seven million CFA francs, were destroyed. A large quantity of narcotics, including Indian hemp and cannabis, counterfeit banknotes worth one million one hundred and thirty thousand CFA francs, thirteen bags of plastic packaging, as well as various other prohibited and contraband products were also incinerated.
This operation aims to decongest the evidence rooms, execute court orders for destruction, eliminate counterfeit products and raise public awareness of the dangers of counterfeiting and smuggling. According to the prosecutor of Faso at the Ziniar© High Court, Amado Guinko, these illegal practices harm the national economy by reducing tax revenues, unlike legal companies that normally pay their taxes.
The chief of Laongo, the first vice-president of the special delegation of Ziniar© as well as the heads of the decentralized technical services took part in the cremation ceremony. Through this action, the judicial authorities intend to enforce court decisions, protect the national economy, strengthen the fight against crime and raise greater awareness among citizens of the harmful effects of smuggling.
