Zondoma/Promotion of Locally Sourced School Meals: An Association Contributes to Schools in Kontigue

Zondoma: The Faso Manegre Association of Kontigue (AFMK) donated three 100 kg bags of beans and three 15 kg bags of salt to the Kontigue "A", "B", and Guig-Yiri schools. The donation was presented on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Kontigue "A" school.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Kontigue "A", "B", and Guig-Yiri schools each received a 100 kg bag of beans and a 15 kg bag of salt to bolster the students' diet through the school's own canteen. The distribution of these supplies took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2025, at the Kontigue "A" school in the presence of the school community and a team from the Gourcy 1 Basic Education District (CEB), led by its head, Amidou Sawadogo.

The association's president, Adara Ouedraogo, mentioned that this initiative is inspired by the call from the President of Burkina Faso encouraging the consumption of local products. He emphasized their aim to contribute to the development of children in these three village schools through the donation.

Sergine Tamalgo, the headmistress of the Kontigue "A" Bibata school, highlighted that the support from the association will help keep students in school longer and enhance their learning capabilities. She pointed out that state food supplies only last a few months, and this contribution, along with food collected by parents, will allow the school to diversify meals and serve hot meals for an extended period.

Amidou Sawadogo, the Head of the constituency, expressed gratitude towards the donors for their support and was pleased to see the educational community actively participating in promoting the local canteen in alignment with the vision of the education authorities. He urged the recipients to utilize the food effectively for the benefit of the children.

Beyond food supplies, the association, which also focuses on environmental protection, donated about twenty seedlings to the schools. Additionally, the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) and vulnerable people in the town of Gourcy received food from the association.
