Zondoma: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) officially handed over school and health infrastructure and equipment to the commune of Gourcy on Tuesday, May 28, 2025. The handover was presided over by the Governor of the Northern Region, Thomas Yampa.
According to Burkina Information Agency, three new classrooms, a borehole and latrines in the village of Rogo, the rehabilitation of the Mako Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), computer equipment for the youth listening center, and equipment for four women's cooperatives are among the achievements of the UNDP for the benefit of the commune of Gourcy.
These works and equipment were officially handed over to the beneficiaries by the Governor of the Northern Region, Thomas Yampa. He was accompanied by the High Commissioner of Zondoma Province, the President of the Special Delegation of the Municipality of Gourcy, and the UNDP representative, Jos©phine Kora Thama. Kora Thama stated that these achievements are part of the stabilization initiatives in the Liptako-Gourma area.
Upon receiving the keys to the facilities, the governor first welcomed the UNDP initiative, which he said will help increase school capacity and improve patient care in the local health facility. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials and equipment received. Before Gourcy, the governor and his team were in Passor© province, where they also handed over school and health infrastructure in the villages of Tanguhin and Petit Samba.
In addition to these achievements, the municipalities of Yako and Gourcy have already benefited from UNDP, with the construction of road and water infrastructure and various equipment for youth and women's organizations.
