Zonsé:The municipality of Zonsé officially commenced the 2026-2027 school year with the traditional monthly flag-raising ceremony at the Zonsé Departmental High School. The event highlighted themes of discipline, patriotism, and school system reform, gathering administrative, municipal, and educational authorities, alongside teachers, students, and parents.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the headmaster, André Sédogo Premier Jumeau, expressed gratitude to municipal authorities for selecting his school for the ceremony. He applauded the previous year's achievements, notably the 94.73% pass rate for the 2026 baccalaureate (series D). He also praised the commitment of both the staff and students, emphasizing that the flag-raising ceremony fosters unity and patriotism. He encouraged students to uphold discipline, respect public property, and maintain a strong work ethic.
Wendinmi Frédéric Ouédraogo, the President of the special delegation of Zonsé, remarked that the ceremony represents national respect, social cohesion, and community belonging. He advised students to focus on work, discipline, and perseverance for success.
Drawing from the ideals of Captain Thomas Sankara and Nelson Mandela, Ouédraogo stressed collective responsibility in education, urging parents and school councils to engage more actively in school management, monitoring progress, and addressing dropout rates. He advocated for a school system aligned with the Popular Progressive Revolution (PPR), aiming to cultivate competent, honest, and patriotic citizens, by decolonizing educational content and appreciating local history, languages, and cultures while embracing universal scientific knowledge.
Inspector Tobouré Yigo translated the speeches into the Bissa language to ensure clarity for all attendees. The PDS concluded by wishing all participants a successful school year characterized by excellence, solidarity, and achievement.
