Zoundw©ogo: The population of Zoundw©ogo province provided 109 motorcycles and fuel to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Manga on Thursday, supporting the regional initiative “One village, at least one motorcycle for the VDP.” The initiative was overseen by Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy, and the Promotion of National Languages.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of Zoundw©ogo Province, Julien Ou©draogo, commended the community’s efforts, noting that it demonstrated the people’s commitment to the principles of sovereignty and development in Burkina Faso. He emphasized that the defense of the homeland is a collective duty that involves every citizen and community.
Presenting the outcomes of the operation conducted from March 2025 to June 10, 2026, Mr. Ou©draogo reported that 109 motorcycles were acquired, achieving a completion rate of 62.42% out of a target of 173 villages and sectors. This effort represented an investment of over 75 million CFA francs. Contributions also came from the communes of Manga, Nob©r©, Guiba, Gogo, Gboussougou, Bind©, and B©r©, including fuel support worth 1,634,150 CFA francs.
Governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma, highlighted the importance of mobility for VDPs as a key concern for communities. The donation of 109 motorcycles addresses this need and exemplifies the shared responsibility for security. She acknowledged the contributions from customary and religious authorities, presidents of special delegations, and all individuals from Zoundw©ogo.
The minister described the community’s mobilization as a significant achievement and an example of local development. He believed that enhancing the operational capabilities of the VDP would contribute to strengthening security, which is crucial for socio-economic progress.
Commander Patrick Anicet Bado, the regional coordinator of the VDP of Nazinon, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanking the people and authorities for their support. He assured that the motorcycles would improve the VDP’s mobility and operational effectiveness in securing local communities. Mr. Bado committed to ensuring proper management and maintenance of the motorcycles for sustainable use in protecting the population and territory.
