Gogo: The municipality of Gogo planted 120 seedlings on Thursday, 60 of which were planted at a sacred site and the others along roads, during its annual reforestation day. The event was presided over by the president of the Gogo Special Delegation, Issa Tiendrebeogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in total, 120 plants were planted during this day, including 60 on the sacred site chosen to host part of the activity and the others along the roads of the municipality. The Nabikinga of Gogo welcomed the Special Delegation's initiative and thanked them for choosing this sacred site to host part of the reforestation activity. He also expressed his satisfaction with the Special Delegation's commitment to fence off the site in the coming days.
The traditional chief also thanked the entire population for their strong mobilization around this activity, before calling on everyone to contribute to the protection of the planted seedlings. The PDS of Gogo indicated that the planted seedlings belong to the entire population of the commune and invited everyone to take care of them.
Comrade Tiendrebeogo also reaffirmed the Special Delegation's commitment to closing the sacred site in the coming days. Regarding the plants installed along the roads, the PDS called on the local populations and all citizens to ensure their maintenance.
This reforestation day was made possible thanks to the contribution of several local partners and stakeholders. The Special Delegation notably received plants from the Association for the Development of the Commune of Gogo, the United Youth Association of Gogo, Comrade Belem Philippe and the Association Committed to Green Employment.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of recognition to the associations that contributed to the activity, as well as to the Environment department of KIAKA SA, for its support. Through this initiative, the municipality of Gogo intends to strengthen community mobilization in favor of environmental protection and the restoration of vegetation cover.
