Zoundw©ogo: The Bind© Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade officially assumed control from the Police Station of Bind© commune on Thursday, June 4, 2026, marking the end of a forty-year police presence in this area of Zoundw©ogo province. The transition ceremony was presided over by Mamounata Congo, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Bind©, and highlighted the installation of Adjutant Kiswendsida Alfred Kabor© as the first commander of the new territorial Gendarmerie Brigade.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Bind© Police Station, established in 1986, had been responsible for maintaining the safety of the municipality's people and property for decades. The handover event garnered the attention of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, along with various social groups, who gathered to express their gratitude to the outgoing police commissioner, Souli, and his team.
Traditional and religious leaders, village development advisors, youth representatives, and women's associations commended the police forces for their service during their tenure in Bind©. His Majesty Naaba Yanbolobo II, in his welcoming remarks, honored Commissioner Souli for his "loyal services" to the commune and pledged support to the newly installed Gendarmerie team.
Commissioner Souli, in his final address, acknowledged his colleagues' dedication and professionalism, expressing appreciation towards the Bind© community for their cooperation. He apologized for any misunderstandings caused by law enforcement activities, emphasizing that mistakes are inevitable in any active work. He urged residents to extend the same support to his successor as they had offered to the police.
Adjutant Kiswendsida Alfred Kabor©, the new commander, emphasized his dedication to fostering social peace and strengthening collaboration with the community, assuring that the Gendarmerie would proactively engage with the populace. Commissioner Baguian, the acting provincial director of the National Police, lauded the efforts of past police teams and wished the Gendarmerie success in their new role.
Mamounata Congo, PDS of Bind©, formally installed Commander Kabor©, encouraging the community to assist the new brigade in addressing ongoing security challenges. This organizational change aligns with the regulations governing the distribution of responsibilities among the Defense and Security Forces. The ceremony concluded with a tour of the new facilities for the Bind© Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade.
