Tenkodogo: Presi FC of Bittou won the final of the 2025 Renewal Cup on Saturday at the Tenkodogo municipal stadium, defeating Sigri FC on penalties. Organized over three months by the Nakambe Regional Football League, under the patronage of the Minister of Infrastructure, the competition aimed to promote social cohesion, local community engagement, and youth development through sport.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final brought together administrative and customary authorities, sports officials, and community stakeholders, demonstrating the interest in the development of regional football. Representing the Minister of Infrastructure, the special envoy stressed that competition "contributes to social cohesion and strengthens community spirit in a context where unity remains essential."
The president of the Nakambe Regional Football League, Souleymane Lonfo, stated that the Renewal Cup has revitalized the communities and given increased visibility to young talents. He expressed his hope that, in the coming years, players from the region will join the national teams.
On the pitch, Presi FC of Bittou and Sigri FC played a hard-fought and tactically controlled match, ending in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time. A penalty shootout ultimately decided the winner, awarding the trophy to Presi FC of Bittou.
The closing ceremony took place in a spirit of fair play. The patron of the edition, Colonel-Major Jean-Baptiste Parkouda, congratulated the finalists and all the teams involved, encouraging the continuation of sporting initiatives in the region.
Presi FC of Bittou, the winner, leaves with the trophy, an envelope of 300,000 CFA francs, medals, a complete set of jerseys, and balls. Sigri FC, the unfortunate finalist, receives an envelope containing 250,000 CFA francs, medals, a complete set of jerseys, and balls. The other participating teams also received complete sets of jerseys and balls.
The Renewal Cup is now establishing itself as a framework for sporting expression and social cohesion in the Nakambe region.
