Ouagadougou: More than 327 teachers and censors at the school of educational reforms are participating, from September 16 to 18, 2026 in Bogand, in a conference dedicated to the adoption and implementation of reforms in secondary education, with an emphasis on skills development, vocational training, and science and technology education.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference is set under the theme "Implementing reforms in secondary education: skills development through vocational training and science and technology education." The meeting aims to strengthen understanding of the various reforms undertaken in the education system and their application in the practices of stakeholders.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of Gnagna Province, Mendien dit Moussa Soma, who represented the High Commissioner. In his address, he invited participants to make these days a forum for constructive and inclusive exchanges, likely to lead to concrete initiatives for improving the education system. "May these days of reflection be inclusive in order to generate concrete initiatives and actions to improve our education system," he declared.
Previously, the Provincial Director of Secondary, Vocational, and Technical Education for Gnagna, Dr. Tiwend Jean Balima, welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the importance of the meeting in the process of ensuring that stakeholders on the ground take ownership of the reforms. Over three days, participants will discuss issues related to skills development through vocational training, strengthening science and technology education, and integrating information and communication technologies into educational practices.
The discussions will also enable teachers and support staff to better understand the direction of the reforms and identify the conditions necessary for their effective implementation in the province's secondary schools. For the organizers, the stakeholders' ownership of the reforms is crucial for their concrete translation into teaching practices and the improvement of learning. The conference will continue until September 18, 2026, in Bogand.
