Ouahigouya: The National Armed Forces (FAN) of Burkina Faso celebrated their 64th anniversary with a significant ceremony in the North region, highlighted by a wreath-laying at the tomb of the unknown soldier. This event took place at the Place de la Nation in Ouahigouya on Saturday, November 2, 2024, presided over by Issouf Ouédraogo, Governor of the region.According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony attracted the administrative authorities of the region, the Chief of Corps of the 12th RIC, and various components of the defense and security forces. Governor Issouf Ouédraogo, in his address following the ceremony, urged the defense and security forces to emulate the bravery of their predecessors who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He emphasized the responsibility of the new generation to enhance the army's resilience and capability in reclaiming national territory.Captain W. Élisée Tassembédo, the Chief of Corps of the 12th RIC, spoke on the necessity of sustaining the fight initiated by their predecessors, especially in the ongoing battle against terrorism. He reaffirmed the commitment of the fighters, highlighting their determination to achieve the liberation of the homeland, even at the cost of their lives.
