National Armed Forces Celebrate 64th Anniversary with Resilient Parade in Fada N’Gourma.

Gourma: The National Armed Forces of the Eastern Region commemorated the 64th anniversary of the national army in Fada N'Gourma this Friday, November 1, 2024. On November 1, 2024, the national army of Burkina Faso celebrates its 64th anniversary.According to Burkina Information Agency, a parade of arms, which brought together all the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), took place under the co-presidency of the governor of the Eastern region, Ram Joseph Kafando, and the commander of the 6th military region, Lieutenant Colonel Eric Somé Dabiré. The event was marked by a sense of pride and a reflection on the legacy left by the pioneers of the national army.Lieutenant Colonel Eric Somé Dabiré highlighted the importance of keeping the army strong and noted the significance of the anniversary theme, "The National Armed Forces, more loyal, committed and determined than ever." This theme underscores resilience, loyalty, and the determination of the forces in reclaiming the territory. He expressed gratitude towar ds Governor Kafando for his unwavering support and leadership, which has consistently bolstered the army's efforts in the Eastern Region.Governor Ram Joseph Kafando, while congratulating the FDS and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), emphasized their pivotal role in maintaining stability in the region despite challenges. He reassured ongoing support for their mission of reconquering the territory and called for continued cooperation from the community in the fight against terrorism. Kafando praised the support from the daughters and sons of the Eastern region and encouraged further contributions to the war effort.The ceremony also honored 29 soldiers and gendarmes for their dedication and loyalty, with 28 receiving the military medal and one receiving the military medal of honor. The event was a testament to the unity and commitment of the armed forces and their allies in the Eastern Region.
