Banfora: Muslim worshippers in Banfora, alongside other cities in Burkina Faso, celebrated the Feast of Aid El Kebir, also known as Tabaski or the Feast of the Sheep, marked by the sacrifice of a ram. The event took place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Place de la Nation, where the grand prayer was led by the Imam of the Grand Mosque of Banfora, Amad Sanogo. Regional authorities, including Governor Badabou¨ Florent Bazi©, and leaders from various religious communities attended the ceremony to show solidarity with the Muslim faithful.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Tabaski festival in Banfora was characterized by a call from Grand Imam Amad Sanogo, urging worshippers to uphold the values of peace, sharing, forgiveness, and tolerance. He emphasized the importance of remaining committed to God and adhering to the principles of Islam. In his sermon, the Imam prayed for divine intervention for the restoration of peace in the country.

El Hadj Ahmad Sanogo performed the ritual sacrifice of a white ram, symbolizing Abraham's obedience to God's command. This act concluded the prayer session before worshippers returned to their homes. Governor Florent Badabou¨ Bazi© conveyed greetings from the nation's authorities and expressed gratitude for the community's efforts towards social cohesion and peace.

Governor Bazi© commended the Muslim community for their prayers and contributions to fostering social harmony and peaceful coexistence in the region. He wished the Muslim faithful a joyful Tabaski celebration and hoped for a prosperous rainy season to ensure bountiful harvests. Highlighting the significance of unity, he urged the community to embrace forgiveness and accept differences.

In a message to the Muslim community, Mr. Bazi© encouraged continued prayers and actions aligned with national directives aimed at reclaiming territory, enhancing security, and restoring peace in Burkina Faso. He emphasized the need for these efforts to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.
