Tapoa: The association Unis pour agir (UPA), in tandem with the NGO la Brique, held a ceremony on Thursday in Diapaga to hand over 50 bicycles and three tons of corn to internally displaced girls attending school in the province of Tapoa, AIB noted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, strengthening the resilience of schools, families, and educational communities in 40 schools across the province's eight municipalities in the face of security crises is the vision of the UPA association. Following a school kit handover ceremony, the UPA returned to the cause this Thursday with the delivery of 50 bicycles and two tons of corn.
Both the First Vice President and the DPENA indicated that this project is timely, as it will allow several children to continue their education in acceptable conditions. "A project that aims to build community resilience is truly important to us," stressed Pascal Thiombiano, the DPENA of Tapoa.
A project, according to the coordinator of the NGO La Brique, Alexis Demb©l©, was initiated to respond to two major challenges facing Burkina Faso, namely the security and food crises.
The beneficiaries did not fail to express their gratitude to the partners. Soali Ouali, representing the prefect, welcomed the project's arrival in the municipality, a project that, according to him, is already generating enthusiasm among the population. "It's a good deed that we all appreciate," he noted.
For the coordinator of the NGO La Brique, the project was inspired by the paths already laid out by the Ministry of Education, notably the national strategy for education in emergency situations. Its objective is to help children in vulnerable situations and those who have dropped out following crises to find their way back to school. The project also aims to support the resilience system of schools, families, and communities to enable them to recover at the end of a given crisis.
"You must use these bikes wisely so that the donor can benefit other students in your situation," concluded DEPENA.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the 1st vice-president of the special delegation of Diapaga Soari Ouali, his counterpart from Tansarga Ibrahim Kapioko, the provincial director of education of Tapoa Pascal Thiombiano, the beneficiaries and their parents and representatives of the project. Also present was the representative of the provincial director of humanitarian action Cl©ment Yonli.
