Kourittenga: Former Students of the East School Pay Tribute to Their Teachers

Kourittenga: Former students of the 1988-1994 class of the 'East School' of Koupela, previously called 'Tang Zougou School' then 'mixed school', met on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the said school, to pay tribute to their teachers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the "East" school, the first public school in the town of Koupela, was founded in 1958 and 30 years later, the class of 1988 began with 75 students. For this meeting to pay tribute to teachers, there were 55 students and two teachers from this year group participating in the activity.

To mark this day, the key points included the planting of trees within the school grounds, a community meal, and the presentation of honor rolls to teachers who had made an impact during their school career. Among the five teachers in the class, the former principal and a teacher honored the invitation, sharing these moments of gratitude.

The president of the organizing committee, Legie Sandwidi, praised the strong mobilization of participants and emphasized the importance of this reunion. "This initiative is a way of saying thank you to our teachers who have worked to make us who we are today. It also allows us to restore our childhood bonds and build a spirit of brotherhood and solidarity together," he said.

Zenabo Koanda, a member of the class, thought it was an excellent idea to organize this meeting. "It allows us to relive beautiful memories and encourage each other," she said.

Moved to meet his former students, the former director of the said school, Mose Yameogo, praised their approach, which he described as "noble and exemplary." He urged them to remain role models in their respective roles and to perpetuate the educational values received on the benches of the East school.

This reunion allowed this class to delve into their shared history and strengthen the bonds forged in their youth. An initiative that everyone hopes to perpetuate in order to contribute to the influence of this historic school, a true educational heritage of Koupela.
