Pabre: The Minister of Security, Divisional Police Commissioner, Mahamadou Sana, proceeded, this Friday morning, to the installation of Divisional Police Commissioner Lassina TRAORE, Director General of the Police Academy. The Police Academy has a new Director General. He is Divisional Police Commissioner Lassina Traore. He replaces the General Controller of Police Gerard TARBANGDO in this position.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony, which took place this morning at the Academy in the rural commune of Pabre, was chaired by the Minister of Security and Divisional Police Commissioner Mahamadou Sana. The new Director General has committed to setting up specialized workshops followed by longer and more in-depth practical training courses in the trainees' education. Commissioner Lassina TRAORE plans to modernize the academy's initial training by introducing active methods geared toward problem-solving in professional situations and popularizing technologies in teaching.
"Attracting foreign students from many African and friendly countries to the Academy in line with the pan-Africanist vision of our country's Progressive People's Revolution and boosting the research institute to ensure the international influence of the Police Academy in the scientific world will also be part of our priority actions," said the Director General. For him, these innovations will ultimately improve security on the Police Academy site and reduce operating costs to the benefit of other investments with the agreement of the supervisory authorities.
"The changes are not a questioning or rejection of the existing situation. They aim to improve the existing situation and to further motivate staff, although they may initially arouse reluctance or even resistance," reassures Commissioner Traore. Police Divisional Commissioner Lassina TRAORE has held a Master's degree in Law, specializing in judicial law, from the University of Ouagadougou since 2006. He also holds a Police Commissioner diploma obtained in 2011 from the National Police Academy.
During his career, he participated in numerous training courses in Burkina Faso and abroad which allowed him to receive certificates and attestations. As a reminder, it was during the Council of Ministers at its meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2025, that Police Divisional Commissioner Lassina TRAORE was appointed Director General of the Police Academy.
