Ouagadougou: On the occasion of the 15th edition of the Ouagadougou International Tourism and Hotel Exhibition (SITHO), the Djoro region presented a rich cultural heritage at their stand, focusing on crafts, the role of women in African society, and time-honored cultural practices.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the Djoro region guides' association, Bebe Kambou, emphasized the delegation's display of basketry, pottery, sculptures, and traditional paintings, alongside images from the Djoro people's civilization museum. Kambou highlighted the central role of women in society, showcasing tools and crafts such as culinary preparation, pottery, basketry, and cotton spinning, using materials like clay, straw, and cotton.

In addition to crafts, the Djoro stand featured social and cultural practices, including the initiation to "Djoro," organized every seven years, and rites like the "interrogation of the body," cutting of teeth after initiation, and the warrior tradition of the Lobi people. Kambou expressed optimism about the exhibition's reception, noting the public's curiosity and interest in their traditions.

The 15th edition of SITHO, which began on September 25, 2025, under the theme "Tourism and Integration of the Peoples of the Sahel," is a platform for promoting the cultural and heritage riches of Burkina Faso, bringing together tourism and hospitality stakeholders annually.
