Ouagadougou: The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, expressed his satisfaction on Sunday with the successful execution of the 36th International Tour of Faso, which concluded with a victory for Burkinabe cyclist Paul Daumont.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Somda noted that Burkina Faso successfully met the challenges of organizing the 36th edition of the Tour du Faso. The event spanned 10 stages over 10 days and retained significant appeal, with participation from nine countries.
Minister Somda highlighted the competition’s performance metrics, stating that the event began with an average speed of over 42 km/h and concluded with a final speed of 45.274 km/h. He specifically noted the exceptional performance on the Guiba-Garango section, where speeds exceeded 48 km/h.
The minister emphasized that these performances demonstrate the enduring appeal of the Tour du Faso, both in enthusiasm and athletic achievement. He lauded the Burkinabe victory by Paul Daumont and remarked on the joy it brought to the nation. The event also witnessed the presence of high-level authorities who supported the organization of the tour.
Minister Somda commended the Defense and Security Forces for ensuring the tour’s safety across nine regions, concluding in Ouagadougou. He also praised the organizing committee for their dedication and the regional authorities for their active involvement.
Additionally, the minister acknowledged the media’s efforts in covering the event under various weather conditions, ensuring the public remained informed throughout the tour.
