Kadiogo: The PULAAKU International Festival Puts Culture at the Heart of Living Together and Peace

Kadiogo: The National Center for Performing Arts and Audiovisual Media (CENASA) is hosting the 7th edition of the PULAAKU International Festival from October 31 to November 2, 2025, under the theme: "Our cultural expressions in the service of promoting benevolent dialogue on social networks: a path towards stronger social cohesion." The program includes three days of cultural, intellectual and artistic activities through panels, conferences, training sessions, as well as exhibitions, competitions and a live concert.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this edition puts culture at the center of living together and social peace, through dialogue and the promotion of cultural identities. The representative of the Minister in charge of Culture and sponsor of the event, Souleymane DICKO, during his speech at the opening ceremony, praised the relevance of the theme and the commitment of the organizers.

"It must be noted that war is won by weapons, that's true, but peace is won by culture. It is culture that allows our society to come together, to talk to each other and to strengthen social cohesion. This festival is to be commended because it promotes our values and fosters the living together that our country so desperately needs," he said.

For his part, the festival coordinator, Boureima Barry, emphasized the unique nature of this 7th edition, marked by a tribute to pioneers of cultural transmission through national languages and the media. "We wanted to honor some of our elders who, starting in the 1980s, promoted our languages such as Dioula, Fulfulde, and Moore, by disseminating messages of awareness and unity. This is our way of reminding everyone that culture and communication are inextricably linked, and that the new generation must draw inspiration from these foundations to move forward together," he stated.

The PULAAKU International Festival, now an essential event on the Burkinabe cultural calendar, has established itself as a space for expression, exchange and reflection on the contribution of culture to peace and national cohesion.
