Union Sportive du Grand 5 de Poura Claims Victory in Fara Social Cohesion Cup Final


Bale: The Union Sportive du Grand 5 de Poura emerged victorious in the Fara Social Cohesion Sports Association Cup final, securing their win through a penalty shootout. The final took place at the SOREMIB Stadium in Poura, marking the 4th edition of this tournament. Sponsored by the High Commissioner of the province, Martin Bako, the event was themed “Sport, a factor of peace, social cohesion, and resilience in the context of reclaiming our territory.”



According to Burkina Information Agency, after a goalless 90 minutes filled with several shots on target from both teams, the Union Sportive du Grand 5 de Poura clinched the trophy by scoring 5 successful penalties against Fara Elite Omnisports Center, who failed to convert any. The victory was celebrated in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.



The winning team received a trophy, a cash prize, a set of jerseys, and a ball. Additionally, the tournament awarded prizes to the three other best-performing teams, along with special prizes and certificates of recognition for individuals. A total of 20 teams from the municipalities of Fara and Poura took part in the final phase of the competition, which began at the Zonou Issa Stadium in Fara last July. Throughout the tournament, 62 goals were scored, underscoring its significance as a major sporting event that unites the youth of both municipalities.



The final attracted a large audience of sports fans, held under the patronage of High Commissioner Martin and sponsored by businessman Lassane Ouedraogo. The organizing committee, led by Bakary Bagayo, who is also the president of AS-PCS Fara-Poura, ensured the event’s success.



High Commissioner Martin Bako praised the spirit of cohesion and community fostered through the event, encouraging youth to extend these values beyond sports to support development initiatives. The tournament’s speakers emphasized the competition’s role in strengthening community ties and promoting social cohesion, highlighting the importance of sports as a tool for peace and development in an environment where dialogue and solidarity are crucial.



The event was a testament to the power of sports in bringing communities together, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating the 5th edition of the tournament.
